Srinagar: Undeterred by the sweltering heat, heavy humidity, and looming security threats, women border guards in full battle gear and armed with AK rifles are maintaining a vigilant presence along the Pahalgam routes. These areas have been placed on high alert amid the ongoing annual Amarnath Yatra, which began on July 3.
BSF female troops have been deployed at multiple locations around the Pahalgam base camp, keeping a close watch on highways and key areas. Their presence is part of heightened security arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the Amarnath Yatra.
In view of intelligence inputs about the involvement of some female OGWs (Over Ground Workers) aiding terrorist groups in Kashmir, the deployment of women personnel has become crucial. These BSF female troops are playing a vital role in maintaining vigilance and countering any potential threat during the pilgrimage.
BSF troopers are maintaining round-the-clock vigil at sensitive locations in South Kashmir. At Sadoora railway station in Anantnag, BSF jawans have been deployed with advanced weaponry to ensure security. A jawan told us they conduct thorough checks along the railway line before any train arrives. Jawans were seen inspecting the tracks using metal detectors. “These devices help us detect IEDs and other explosives,” said another jawan, highlighting the strict security measures in place to safeguard the Amarnath Yatra and public movement.
Three-tier security has been deployed along the Pahalgam-Baisaran Yatra route. ITV Network reached Baisaran, Pahalgam, where Border Security Forces are maintaining strict day-and-night vigilance. Baisaran, the same area where 25 tourists, including a local guide, were killed in the past, is now under heavy surveillance.
As part of enhanced security measures, nearly 55,000 personnel from BSF and CRPF have been deployed at key points along the Amarnath Yatra route to ensure the safety of pilgrims.
