Jammu: In a significant breakthrough, Jammu Police foiled a major targeted killing attempt by recovering a cache of weapons suspected to have been dropped via drone in the Nagrota area. A Srinagar resident was arrested while transporting the arms in a car registered in Haryana.

According to officials, the arrest was made late on Monday night during a special naka (checkpoint) laid by Police Station Nagrota at the TCP Bypass. Based on specific intelligence inputs, the police intercepted a white Toyota Etios bearing registration number HR38Z-2066, which was travelling from Jammu towards Srinagar.

The driver, identified as Azan Hameed Gazi, son of Abdul Hamid Gazi, a resident of Hilalabad, Qamarwari (Srinagar), was found in possession of three sophisticated pistols—including Chinese and Turkish make—three empty magazines, eight live cartridges, and two empty cartridges.

Initial investigation indicates that the weapons were dropped using a drone and were meant for executing targeted killings in the Kashmir Valley. The seizure of a Haryana-registered vehicle further raises concerns over cross-state terror logistics and sleeper cell linkages.

Police have registered FIR No. 170/2025 under Section 3/25 of the Arms Act at Police Station Nagrota. Senior officers confirmed that further investigations are underway to trace the source of the weapons, identify the intended targets, and dismantle the broader network behind the delivery.

This development marks yet another instance of drone-assisted terror supply chains being activated from across the border to trigger unrest in Jammu and Kashmir. The timely action by Jammu Police has averted what could have been a deadly plot.
