In a major security development, the Indian Army has foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector of North Kashmir. According to defence sources, a group of terrorists tried to sneak into Indian territory under the cover of darkness, leading to a fierce gunfight between the infiltrators and Indian troops.

During the exchange of fire, one Indian Army soldier was killed in action, displaying exceptional bravery in preventing the infiltration attempt. The Army has since launched a massive counter-infiltration operation, which includes combing the area for any remaining infiltrators and checking for possible BAT (Border Action Team) involvement from across the border.

Exclusive visuals from the ground show intense activity in the forward areas, with additional reinforcements rushed to the LoC and search operations currently underway.

Officials said that the infiltration bid is part of increased attempts from across the LoC to disturb peace in the region ahead of Independence Day.

Further details are awaited.
