Srinagar: To counter potential terror threats, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have deployed trained women officers in the Line of Control (LoC) districts of North Kashmir.

The deployment comes amid intelligence inputs suggesting that some women may be working as Over Ground Workers (OGWs) for terrorist groups.

These female officers are playing a crucial role in ground-level security operations, especially during the high-alert period ahead of Independence Day. They are actively involved in frisking and surveillance duties to ensure public safety. Their presence is aimed at strengthening the overall security grid and enhancing the force’s capability to identify and deter any suspicious activity involving women.

In the past, several female OGW suspects have been arrested for aiding terrorists  including smuggling weapons, providing logistical support, and even being involved in grenade attacks on security forces. During investigations, many revealed they were motivated and paid by terror outfits to carry out such activities.
