Bihar prepares for heated elections as caste, strategy and alliances dominate politics.
New Delhi: There is a flood of political rain in Bihar, all the parties are sowing the crop of issues in their political fields, but when the time will come to harvest the crop of power, law and order, progress of development will help different parties to become the emperor of Bihar.
By the way, many surveys have come out so far, according to which NDA is far ahead of the INDIA block and is seen gaining power. In Bihar, the National Democratic Alliance under the leadership of Nitish Kumar will be in the electoral fray with a total of 5 constituent parties, while who will be the CM candidate in the Grand Alliance (INDIA) is not yet revealed. These days, all the leaders and workers of the Grand Alliance including Tejashwi Yadav and Rahul Gandhi are sweating it out.
If elections are held in the 243-seat Vidhan Sabha now, then according to the survey of surveys and public opinion, NDA is seen getting more than 130 seats, while the INDIA bloc is seen getting more than 75 seats and there is confusion on the remaining 30 seats.
In such a situation, all eyes are on whose game Prashant Kishor spoils in Bihar, who has given the taste of power to many political parties like BJP, JDU, Congress, AAP, YSR (CP), DMK and TMC with his political strategy.
Prashant Kishor’s party Jan Suraj, which is contesting elections for the first time, is also engaged in wooing the voters of Bihar and everyone from Nitish Kumar to Tejashwi Yadav seems to be on PK’s target.
But the electoral history of Bihar so far has been that as the elections come closer, castes dominate the issues.
As far as politics goes, extremely backward class, backward class, Dalit, Mahadalit, Muslim and forward castes overpower the politics of issues. Even workers of different parties have started saying in hushed voices that PK can cut into the votes of RJD, JDU and BJP.
On the other hand, BJP is moving ahead by making development its main issue under the leadership of Nitish Kumar. Now BJP is also trying to cash in on the issue of abuse by Congress because when Congress and other parties have abused PM Modi, BJP has got tremendous benefit from it.
15.52% people of general category, 27.12% of backward class, 36% of extremely backward class, 19% of Scheduled Caste (Dalit) and 1.68% of Scheduled Tribe (Adivasi) live in Bihar. Out of this, NDA believes that about 55% votes of most castes from general caste to Scheduled Tribes including extremely backward class are with them, whereas the INDIA block believes that 48% to 50% votes are of other castes including Muslims. By the way, the term of the Bihar Legislative Assembly is ending in November 2025 and the election is expected to be announced by mid-September 2025. It is being said that voting can take place only after Chhath Puja, so in such a situation it will be interesting to see whether NDA becomes the emperor of Bihar under the leadership of Nitish Kumar or the INDIA bloc!
