New Delhi: Even as the Central Police Reserve Force (CRPF) wrote to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge flagging repeated lapses in security protocol during his foreign trips, warning that such breaches could expose him to serious risks, the grand old party hit back saying is government rattled by his truth as it made public release of the letter.

The Congress fumed after the CRPF wrote to Rahul Gandhi and Kharge flagging ‘unscheduled trips’ and breaches and violations of security protocol.

According to sources, in a letter to Kharge, CRPF flagged concerns over his security practices.

The force said that despite enjoying Z+ cover with an Advance Security Liaison (ASL) team, Rahul Gandhi has skipped mandatory protective measures on several occasions.

CRPF VVIP Security Chief Sunil June alleged that Rahul Gandhi was not taking his security cover “seriously” as he was mostly travelling abroad “without informing anyone”.

The letter also highlighted at least six foreign trips of Rahul Gandhi’s in coubtries like Italy, Vietnam, Dubai, Qatar, London and Malaysia.

It noted that the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha frequently travels overseas for both personal and political reasons.

The source said, it stated that under the “Yellow Book” protocol, high-security protectees are required to inform their security wing in advance about all movements, including foreign tours, so that adequate arrangements can be made.

Hitting back, Congress media and publicity department chairperson Pawan Khera said that the timing of the letter and it’s public release raises disturbing questions as Rahul Gandhi is leading the charge of vote theft.

In a post on X, Khera, who is also a CWC member said, “The timing of the CRPF’s letter and its instant public release raise disturbing questions. It comes just as Rahul Gandhi is leading the charge against the BJP’s Vote Chori carried out with the Election Commission’s complicity.”

Firing salvos at the government, the Congresd leader asked, “Is this a veiled attempt to intimidate the Leader of Opposition, who has already announced another imminent disclosure? Is the government rattled by the truth he is about to reveal?”

The Congress leader had in last few months visited several countries and has also been targeting the government over the alleged vote theft by Election Commission in collusion with the BJP.
