Srinagar: In a major breakthrough in the investigation of the Delhi Red Fort blast case, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday arrested Dr. Bilal Naseer Malla, a resident of Shutloo, Rafiabad in Baramulla district of North Kashmir. He is the eighth person to be arrested in the case registered under RC-21/2025/NIA/DLI.

According to the NIA, Dr. Bilal played a key role in the conspiracy behind the terror attack that left 11 people dead and several others injured in Delhi last month. He is alleged to have provided shelter and logistical support to Umar Un Nabi, one of the main accused in the case who was later killed. Dr. Bilal is also accused of deliberately destroying crucial evidence related to the incident.

Sources confirm that Dr. Bilal had shifted to Al-Falah University nearly two months ago, raising further suspicions about the extent and nature of his involvement in the planning and aftermath of the attack.

What has added to the shock is Dr. Bilal’s family background. His father is currently serving as an officer in the Jammu & Kashmir Police, and his uncle is a retired Deputy Superintendent of Police. The development has prompted security agencies to widen their probe into possible support networks, including individuals with seemingly clean records and professional backgrounds.

The NIA continues to investigate the larger conspiracy behind the Red Fort blast, which officials believe may involve a well-organized module of white-collar operatives. Multiple agencies are now working in coordination to uncover the full extent of the terror plot and its supporters.

The arrest of Dr. Bilal Naseer Malla marks a significant step in the ongoing crackdown on covert operatives and facilitators involved in high-profile terror attacks.
