The long wait for GTA 6 may not be over yet. Fresh comments from a top industry insider suggest that Rockstar Games is still finishing key parts of the game, putting its November 19, 2026, release date under serious doubt. If another delay happens, GTA 6 could now slip into early 2027, testing fans patience once again.

The warning comes at a time when Rockstar has gone quiet on updates and marketing, a move that has only added to growing anxiety among players worldwide.

GTA 6: Delayed Again?

Speaking on the Button Mash podcast, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier said Rockstar has not yet completed the game’s core content. He said, “The last I heard, it was still not complete. That is to say, people were still finishing things up, still finalizing levels, and missions, and seeing what is going to make it into the game.”

That statement has raised fresh doubts about whether GTA 6 can realistically hit its current launch window.

GTA 6: New Launch Date (Latest)

GTA 6 is officially scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026. However, Jason Schreier made it clear that the date is far from locked in. He added, “It’s really hard to say right now, and I don’t think anyone at Rockstar can tell you, with 100% certainty, that they will make it out in November.”

Based on Rockstar’s past development cycles and the current progress, industry watchers now expect a possible new release window of March to April 2027 if delays continue.

GTA 6: Why ‘Sony’ Skipped Showcase, Raising Questions?

Fuel was added to the delay speculation after Sony skipped GTA 6 in its recent 2026 games showcase. Other major titles appeared in the presentation, but Rockstar’s biggest release was missing.

Fans believe Sony may already know the game will not arrive in 2026. While neither Sony nor Rockstar has commented, the absence has sparked widespread debate online.

GTA 6: Why Development is Taking So Long?

GTA 6 is one of the largest and most complex games ever made. Jason Schreier compared its timeline to Red Dead Redemption 2, which also faced multiple delays before launch.

Rockstar delayed GTA 6 twice already. The game was first pushed from 2025 to May 2026, and then delayed again to November 2026. Jason Schreier said he would not be surprised if history repeats itself.

GTA 6: Still Not ‘Content Complete’

Jason Schreier explained that Rockstar is still actively building parts of the game. He said, “Typically, the way that game development works, you have your feature complete, your content complete, your bug testing phases… But they are still making stuff.”

He added that even during bug-fixing stages, developers often try to add last-minute features, which can further delay the release.

Rockstar Choosing Polish Over Pressure?

Unlike many studios, Rockstar has a history of delaying games to avoid broken launches. The company may prefer a late but polished release rather than risking technical issues at launch.

With player expectations at record highs, Rockstar may see early 2027 as a safer window to deliver a finished product without compromise.

GTA 6: Will Fans Have to Wait Longer?

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has said he is “highly confident” about the current release date. Still, the lack of updates and insider warnings suggests another delay remains possible.

For now, fans can only wait and prepare for the possibility that GTA 6’s real launch date could land in Q1 2027 instead.
