Rockstar Games’ most anticipated title, Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6), is once again at the centre of delay concerns, triggering fresh anxiety among fans eagerly waiting for the next chapter of the iconic franchise. Despite earlier assurances around a revised launch window, new industry chatter suggests the game’s development timeline may still be under pressure.

Recent comments from respected industry insider Jason Schreier have added fuel to speculation that GTA 6 may not meet its currently expected release schedule. His remarks indicate that the project is still undergoing major development work, raising doubts about whether Rockstar can comfortably hit its targeted launch date without compromising quality.

GTA 6: Is the Game Facing Another Delay? What the Latest Insider Update Says

Speaking on the Button Mash podcast, Schreier revealed that based on information he has heard, GTA 6 is not yet “content complete.” He added that there is internal uncertainty at Rockstar Games over whether the development team can realistically meet the planned November release window.

According to him, developers are still actively working on missions, refining gameplay systems, and deciding which features will make it into the final build. This phase remains crucial, as only after locking the content can the studio fully shift focus to polishing, optimisation, and bug fixes.

GTA 6: Why Rockstar Games May Choose to Push it Again

Rockstar has a long-standing reputation for prioritising quality over deadlines. Schreier pointed out that the studio historically prefers delaying releases rather than launching a game that feels unfinished or technically unstable. With GTA 6 being one of the most hyped video games of all time, expectations are sky-high, leaving little room for error.

Given the massive open-world scale, complex narrative structure, and technical ambition of the project, even minor issues could require months of additional work. As a result, a delay, while disappointing, may align with Rockstar’s development philosophy.

GTA 6: Possible New Release Window and Take-Two’s Role

Schreier also linked GTA 6’s timing to Take-Two Interactive’s financial calendar. Since Take-Two’s fiscal year concludes in late March 2027, he believes Rockstar may aim to launch the game before that deadline. The company’s financial performance and stock movement are closely tied to GTA 6, increasing pressure to release it within that window.

GTA 6: What We Know So Far?

Grand Theft Auto VI serves as the next mainline entry in Rockstar’s legendary open-world series. The game is set in the fictional US state of Leonida, featuring a modern-day Vice City. The story follows a criminal duo, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, marking the franchise’s first female protagonist in a lead role.

As of now, GTA 6 is officially slated for release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, though fans remain cautious until Rockstar provides further confirmation.
