LONDON, United Kingdom, January 9 — The Princess of Wales has released an emotional video reflection on healing and gratitude to mark her 44th birthday. The film, titled “Winter,” concludes her personal “Mother Nature” series, which has charted her public journey over the past year.

What is in Kate’s birthday video?

The nearly two-minute film shows the Princess on early morning walks in Berkshire, London, and the Cotswolds. In a voiceover, she speaks about finding stillness and self-discovery in the winter season. “I find myself reflecting on how deeply grateful I am,” Kate says, as scenes show her by a stream and in a frost-covered field. She wore a green coat and cap for the footage, which was captured by photographer Will Warr.

The “Winter” film is the fourth and final part of a quarterly project Kate began in May 2025. It arrives exactly one year after she announced she was in remission from cancer in January 2025. Her initial diagnosis was shared in March 2024. The series has served as a creative window into how nature has supported her during this period.

  • The series launched during Mental Health Awareness Week in May 2025.
  • It included episodes for Summer, Autumn, and now Winter.

In an Instagram caption, Kate called the series “a deeply personal, creative reflection on how nature has helped me heal.” She signed the note with “C,” for Catherine.

How has nature featured in Kate’s recovery?

Long an advocate for outdoor wellbeing practices like “forest bathing,” Kate’s connection to nature deepened during her treatment. She chose outdoor settings for several key health updates. In June 2024, she shared a photo leaning against a tree in Windsor, which biographer Sally Bedell Smith called a “sign of real hope.” The family’s move to Forest Lodge in Windsor in October 2025 further emphasized this theme.

What comes next for her work?

People close to the Princess indicate she is keen to further explore the link between nature, creativity, and wellbeing in her future projects. She also honored “Mother Nature” in her Mother’s Day message in March 2025, indicating that this will continue to be a pillar of her public campaigning as she resumes a more active schedule.
