India will celebrate its 77th Republic Day on January 26. As the big day approaches, Delhi authorities have launched one of the most advanced and multi-layered security plans ever arranged for the event.

Security agencies have increased patrols, surveillance, and crowd monitoring across Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR). Their main goal is to make sure the Republic Day celebrations at Kartavya Path remain peaceful and safe.

Delhi Police officials said they have made detailed preparations. They have set up several checkpoints at important entry and exit points of the capital. Officers are checking vehicles more strictly. They are also closely watching movement near the parade venue.

Modern Technology Strengthens Security

This year, police are using advanced tools along with traditional methods. In a major change from earlier years, officers will wear AI-powered smart glasses. These glasses come with facial recognition and thermal imaging features.

The devices can scan faces in large crowds. They then compare those faces with police records in real time. If the system detects known criminals or suspicious people, it alerts officers immediately. Specially chosen personnel along the parade route will use these smart glasses to quickly spot possible threats.

Additional Commissioner of Police Devesh Kumar Mahala said the force is increasingly depending on technology-driven solutions to enhance public safety, integrating CCTV cameras, video analytics and the new smart glasses to improve threat detection, as per news agency, PTI.

Airspace and Elevated Security Measures

Authorities have also focused on air safety. Anti-drone teams are monitoring the sky over sensitive and high-profile areas. Officials have banned unmanned aerial systems near important zones to stop any misuse.

Sniper teams are positioned on tall buildings. This adds another protective layer to guard against aerial or long-distance threats.

Background Checks and Area Monitoring

Security agencies are also working behind the scenes. They are carrying out large-scale verification drives in New Delhi district. Officials are checking hotels, guest houses, tenants, and domestic workers to find any potential risks.

Moreover, police are keeping a close watch on crowded places nearby. These include bus stops, railway stations, and markets where large numbers of people gather.

Joint Efforts and Public Cooperation

Many agencies are working together for the event. Delhi Police, paramilitary forces, and intelligence agencies are coordinating through command and control centers. These centers monitor thousands of CCTV cameras installed across the city.

Police have also requested the public to cooperate during checks. They have asked citizens to report any suspicious activity or objects immediately.

This strong combination of technology, manpower, and coordination aims to ensure that Republic Day celebrations take place without any incidents.
