Bihar Outplay Manipur By 568 Runs In Ranji Trophy Plate Final, Return Back To Elite Group

Bihar set an improbable target of 764 for Manipur after Raghuvendra Pratap Singh fell just short of a century, dismissed for his overnight score of 90, leading to the declaration of the second innings at 505 for 6.

Bihar clinched the Ranji Trophy Plate title after thumping Manipur by a mammoth margin of 568 runs. Batting first, Bihar rode on stunning hundreds from captain Sakibul Gani and Bipin Saurabh to post 522. Gani struck 108 and Saurabh notched up 143.

Apart from these two, Akash Raj got a half-century and Suraj Kashyap remained unbeaten at 83. Rex Rajkumar picked up four wickets for Manipur. Later, the Bihar bowling rattled the opposition and bundled out Manipur for 264. Suraj Kashyap scalped three wickets while Prashant Singh and Himanshu Singh picked up a couple apiece.

Later, Bihar continued their dominance in the second innings as well posting a mammoth 505/6. Piyush Singh smashed 216* off 322 deliveries while Raghuvendra Pratap Singh missed out on a hundred by just 10 runs as he was trapped in front by Rex Singh for 90. Khalid Alam also struck 81.



Later, Manipur never got the momentum they needed and lost wickets regularly to get reduced to 68/6 before getting bowled out for 195 and lose the match. Pheiroijam Jotin top-scored with 74. Himanshu Singh and Suraj Kashyap picked up three wickets each.

With this win, Bihar have returned to Elite group. Earlier this month, Bihar also secured promotion to the Elite League in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, defeating Manipur by six wickets in the final.
