COMPLETE SCRIPT TO FOLLOW SHOWS: MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA (JANUARY 26, 2026) (TENNIS AUSTRALIA – See restrictions) 1. WOMEN'S DEFENDING CHAMPION MADISON KEYS WALKING INTO PRESS CONFERENCE 2. WHITE FLASH 3. (SOUNDBITE) (English) DEFENDING CHAMPION, MADISON KEYS, SAYING: "Obviously not the way that I wanted things to end here, but still really proud of myself. I think coming back, being defending champion, dealing with all of the kind of extra pressure and nerves, I'm just really proud of myself for how I handled it. Just one of those days where I feel like Jess beat me, and I can kind of walk away with my head held high." 4. WHITE FLASH 5. (SOUNDBITE) (English) DEFENDING CHAMPION, MADISON KEYS, SAYING: "It's not like the world is ending because I lost today. Like I said, I have 11 months of the year left, and there is still lots to be proud of, and I'm still going to go out and work on new things and try to implement them in the next tournament. Obviously disappointed, but I'm really trying to not live and die on every single win and loss at this point in my career." 6. WHITE FLASH 7. (SOUNDBITE) (English) SIXTH SEED, JESSICA PEGULA, SAYING: "Happy with the way I was able to serve I think on some really big key points, execute my strategy. You know, I have been seeing, hitting, moving, I feel like very well this whole tournament, and to be able to keep that up against such a great player as Maddie and defending champion was going to be a lot tougher of a task today, but I think I was still able to do that really well." 8. WHITE FLASH 9. (SOUNDBITE) (English) SIXTH SEED, JESSICA PEGULA, ON PLAYING ANOTHER AMERICAN, AMANDA ANISIMOVA: "Honestly, I don't mind, like, the familiarity of it. I think sometimes it can be tough, because you almost know each other too well, that it almost is like a weird feeling beating them going to the next round, because they're someone that you know well, that you see all the time, you practice with all the time, maybe you train with them, maybe you live near each other. But at the same time, we are also I think used to no matter where we're from. We're with each other pretty much every week, travelling a lot on the same flights, eating in the same dining, staying at the hotel a lot. We see each other so much that I think you kind of have that feeling with most of the girls. So it will be cool to see if we can have another all-American showdown. At least one of us will get through, and I think that's great for American tennis." 10. WHITE FLASH 11. (SOUNDBITE) (English) FOURTH SEED, AMANDA ANISIMOVA, SAYING: "I think the fact that I've been in the round of 16 three time, and making that step further is pretty special. And yeah, I love playing in Australia. So just being here an extra day, an extra match, is exciting. Yeah, I've been honestly enjoying every second out there. I feel like I'm handling, like, the pressure and expectation that I'm trying to not really think about, but I think that just means a lot more to me that I've been able to really handle that well this week." 12. WHITE FLASH 13. (SOUNDBITE) (English) FOURTH SEED, AMANDA ANISIMOVA, ON HAVING NEVER BEAT MADISON KEYS: "I mean, I know her game pretty well now. I would say it's just the fact that she gets a lot of balls back. Yeah, she can challenge any of the top players. She's obviously at the top for a reason. But yeah, I mean, I feel like I always have a chance against anyone. It's not really — in my head, I feel like every match is new and different. Yeah, I think the fact that I've never beaten her before is an extra challenge for me." 14. WHITE FLASH 15. (SOUNDBITE) (English) FIFTH SEED, ELENA RYBAKINA, ON PLAYING IGA SWIATEK: "Yeah, we played many times. Of course, I know that I need to stay aggressive and go for my shots. When we played here, it was I think also hot, so the ball was flying. Yeah, we will see what's going to be the conditions, who is going to win. But definitely focus for me is my serve, stay aggressive, and yeah, let's see what's going to happen." 16. WHITE FLASH 17. (SOUNDBITE) (English) FIFTH SEED, LORENZO MUSETTI, ON HIS FIRST PRO MATCH ON ROD LAVER ARENA: "Well, I think today was a pretty special performance because first match in such a big stage for me. I have great memories from juniors, which I lifted the trophy in the junior. But of course never had the chance to play in the professional in such a beautiful court and with such great atmosphere. I think today I managed really well. Was a solid performance. I prepared the match pretty well. I've done everything that I needed to do to beat Taylor, who is such a great opponent. So really happy to be in the quarters for the first time." 18. WHITE FLASH 19. MEN'S FIFTH SEED LORENZO MUSETTI LEAVING PRESS CONFERENCE STORY: TO FOLLOW
