The Lakers were active defensively, forcing 15 Chicago turnovers and converting them into 23 points. After a slow opening stretch, Los Angeles took control of the game and led for the entire final three quarters.

LeBron James set the tone early, scoring six of the Lakers’ first 12 points and carrying the offense in the opening minutes. Dončić quickly joined in, while Chicago received early contributions from Jalen Smith and Matas Buzelis. Los Angeles fully seized control in the second quarter, opening the period with a 16–2 run. LeBron continued to attack the basket, while the Lakers’ defense tightened behind the efforts of Jarred Vanderbilt, Jaxson Hayes, and Hachimura. Dončić was unstoppable during the quarter, pouring in 20 points as the Lakers built a comfortable lead.By the end of the third quarter, Los Angeles held a 15-point advantage. Chicago made a push in the fourth, trimming the lead to seven midway through the period, but Dončić responded with another three-pointer to halt the comeback attempt. Moments later, Hayes delivered the exclamation point with a steal and a highlight dunk that ignited the Lakers bench.

Dončić finished the night with 46 points, seven rebounds, and 11 assists in a complete all-around performance. Hachimura added 23 points off the bench, while James finished with 24 points and five rebounds, with 20 of his points coming in the first half. The Lakers’ balanced effort and defensive intensity proved too much for the Bulls to overcome.
