US Winter Storm Update: An extreme cold and a terrible winter storm have ravaged 14 states and cost at least 35 lives with communities still trying to cope with the dangerous situations. A sledding accident led to the death of a 16 year old girl in Frisco, Texas and this demonstrates how even leisure activities turn out to be fatal during icy seasons. Pennsylvania also recorded three deaths in snow removal activities with Louisiana tallying three storm-related deaths which included an 86 years old man who died due to carbon monoxide poisoning. New York City is exploring 10 cold-weather deaths in the Northeast, South Carolina reported a 96-year-old woman dying of hypothermia.

There have been strange and tragic accidents as the storm has brought about. Kentucky reported the death of the first winter storm victim when a 72-year-old woman succumbed to hypothermia and Arkansas reported a death involving a case of ATV. In Massachusetts, a snowplow hit a couple in a parking lot killing one of them. In New Jersey, a 67-year old male was discovered lying unconscious holding a shovel probably because he overworked himself by clearing snow.

The temperatures have been very low below freezing and the wind chills are even colder, below 0 F in most places. According to the FOX Forecast Center, there are uniform readings of 10s and 20s Fahrenheit in the five boroughs of New York City. This mixture of snow, ice, and wind chill adds to the threat of prone frostbite and hypothermia among the outdoor individuals.
