VIDEO SHOWS: PRESS CONFERENCE COMMENTS FROM CHELSEA HEAD COACH, LIAM ROSENIOR AFTER THEIR 3-2 WIN IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE AND NAPOLI HEAD COACH, ANTONIO CONTE / STILL PHOTOGRAPHS FROM THE MATCH RESENDING WITH COMPLETE SCRIPT SHOWS: NAPLES, ITALY (JANUARY 28, 2026) (UEFA – This content can only be used in the reporting of the UEFA Champions League 2025/2026 season – no other use allowed. (SOUNDBITE) (English) CHELSEA HEAD COACH, LIAM ROSENIOR, SAYING: "Yeah, firstly, I think to get through in this competition is the most important thing. So I'm delighted to do it in this way. In terms of our season, in terms of my time on the pitch with the players, that's going to help us so much. I had no time. It's not an excuse, it's a fact. And I'm asking the players and I'm so proud of them. Even in the first half, I'm asking them to press in a completely different way that they've never done before and hardly had any practice at. So that time over the next few weeks will help us get better and improve but we still need to win games in this moment." 3. WHITE FLASH 4. (SOUNDBITE) (English) CHELSEA HEAD COACH, LIAM ROSENIOR, SAYING: "Football is not about me. I give the credit to the players. I said when I came in, they lost a manager that they really respected for reasons that are beyond my control or knowledge. So when you go through that as a young group, to come back and and to accept a new manager the way they have done and for them to work as hard as they have done, for me, is a credit to them. And it's not about me or my ego or trying to prove anything. I'm trying to do the very best I can with my group, with my staff, and hopefully we can have more, more really good nights like this." 5. WHITE FLASH 6. (SOUNDBITE) (Italian) NAPOLI HEAD COACH, ANTONIO CONTE, SAYING: "I am very proud today of what these lads have done, because today there was a risk, knowing Chelsea and knowing our situation (with injuries), that we could have been embarrassed at home. However, as I told the lads after the match, even in defeat we have to hold our heads high and honour the shirt we wear. And they did that superbly well. If only we had been a little more precise in the final third we would certainly be talking about a different result, but in my opinion, the result is very misleading; we absolutely did not deserve to lose the match." 7. WHITE FLASH 8. (SOUNDBITE) (Italian) NAPOLI HEAD COACH, ANTONIO CONTE, SAYING: "In my opinion, the lads exceeded even my expectations, to be honest, because to play like that in a European match against Chelsea, they deserved much more than they got. And that’s a result of their good work, the fact they're growing in mentality, they're growing in everything. Difficulties don't scare us and we face them as the lads did today, facing all the difficulties before us." NAPLES, ITALY (JANUARY 28, 2026) (REUTERS – Access all) (MUTE) 9. STILL OF CHELSEA'S JOAO PEDRO SCORING THE WINNING GOAL TO MAKE IT 3-2 10. STILL OF JOAO PEDRO CELEBRATING 11. STILL OF CONTE REACTING DURING THE MATCH 12. STILL OF NAPOLI PLAYERS LOOKING DEJECTED AT FULL-TIME STORY: Napoli are out of the Champions League after a 3-2 loss at home to Chelsea on Wednesday (January 28), with Joao Pedro scoring twice in the second half to seal the visitors a place in the last 16. Chelsea had already secured at least a playoff spot while Napoli needed a win to give themselves a realistic chance of surviving, but they fell short despite coming from a goal down to lead at halftime. Enzo Fernandez put Chelsea ahead with a penalty in the 19th minute before Napoli responded with two goals in 10 minutes from Antonio Vergara and Rasmus Hojlund. Napoli took their foot off the gas after the break and Pedro levelled for Chelsea in the 61st minute before netting the winner eight minutes from time. Napoli head coach, Antonio Conte, said he's proud of his lads as they exceeded his expectations against Chelsea, adding they "did not deserve to lose the match." Meanwhile, Chelsea's new head coach, Liam Rosenoir is pleased to be accepted by his boys and hopes for more good nights like this. (Production: Conal Quinn, Ciro De Luca, Matteo Ciambelli)
