Anurag Kashyap’s Kennedy OTT Release Date: Anurag Kashyap’s much-awaited thriller, Kennedy, is finally up for streaming on Zee5 (OTTplay Premium) as of Friday, February 20, 2026. After making appearances at a number of international film festivals, including its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023, the neo-noir thriller has finally managed to get a direct-to-digital release in Hindi and English.
The film has been stuck in a “limbo” for a number of years in India despite having clearance from the censor board. On the day of the release, Anurag Kashyap jokingly said that the wait was merely a “process,” not a setback.
Anurag Kashyap Reacts to Kennedy’s OTT Release After Years
Before Kennedy’s OTT debut, Zee5 released a promotional video featuring Anurag Kashyap and Sunny Leone. Sunny asked Kashyap how long the film took to release in India. Kashyap jokingly said, “Miracles do happen. It took 2-3 years. This much time is fine because in India, it’s called ‘process’, and not delay.”
Kennedy’s Plot: A Dark Neo-Noir Thriller
Kennedy features Rahul Bhat as Uday Shetty, an ex-cop presumed dead who turns into a hitman in search of redemption. The plot revolves around his bloody path in the crime world of Mumbai. Uday joins forces with Charlie, played by Sunny Leone, to fight corruption and a complex world of crime and betrayal.
The movie also includes Aamir Dalvi as the villainous Saleem Kattawala, Megha Burman as Anuradha, Commissioner Rasheed Khan as Mohit Takalkar, and Chandan as Abhilash Thapliyal. The plot combines action, suspense, and complexity, which is a hallmark of a neo-noir experience by Anurag Kashyap.
Film Festival Recognition
Besides the Cannes Film Festival, Kennedy was also showcased at the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival in 2023, adding to the hype for its digital launch. The journey of the movie from international success to the OTT platform finally brings the audience Kashyap’s compelling narrative of crime, morality, and redemption.
