Indian national security agencies have arrested six people from Tiruppur district in Tamil Nadu for allegedly planning a terrorist attack, official sources told news agency ANI. Investigators suspect the group had links with Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and contacts connected to Bangladesh.

Arrests Made During Joint Intelligence Operation

The arrests were carried out during a joint intelligence-based operation in Tamil Nadu. Security forces conducted raids at several locations and detained the suspects before the alleged plot could be carried out, according to officials.

As reported, two suspects were arrested from Uthukuli, three from Palladam, and one from the Thirumuruganpoondi area. Authorities also confirmed that one of the arrested individuals is a Bangladeshi national.

Who Are the Accused?

Police identified the suspects as Mizanur Rahman, Mohammad Shabat, Umar, Mohammad Litan, Mohammad Shahid, and Mohammad Ujjal. Officials said the group was allegedly involved in anti-social activities and had shared online content supporting Pakistan-based terrorist organisations.

Fake Aadhaar Cards and Garment Industry Jobs

Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused were allegedly using fraudulent Aadhaar cards to hide their identities. These fake documents were also used to secure jobs in garment factories in the Tiruppur region.

Explaining the operation, the Delhi Police Special Cell said, “The operation followed an investigation into online posts supporting terror activities, which led the team to Tiruppur with the assistance of the local police. Investigators found that the six individuals were working in garment factories in the region and were carrying fake Aadhaar cards,”

Mobile Phones and SIM Cards Seized

During the operation, authorities seized eight mobile phones and sixteen SIM cards from the suspects. Investigators believe these devices were being used to build contacts and networks across different parts of the country.

Suspects Being Brought to Delhi for Questioning

All six accused are currently being transported to Delhi under tight security, where they will be questioned in detail.

Confirming this, Delhi Police said, “All accused are being brought to Delhi by train; the investigation is ongoing. These accused, suspected of aiding terrorists, conducted a recce of several cities. Posters of “Free Kashmir” were put up in Delhi,”

Investigation Continues

Investigating agencies are now working to identify the exact motive behind the conspiracy and determine which locations in India may have been targeted. The probe remains ongoing as authorities analyse digital evidence and question the accused.
