Commuters travelling between Delhi and Noida should prepare for night-time traffic disruptions as authorities begin the second phase of resurfacing work on the DND Flyway. The Noida-Delhi carriageway will face restrictions from 11 PM to 6 AM between February 22 and March 18.
Officials have planned diversions to ensure safety during road repairs, but travellers, especially those heading for early-morning flights or office commutes, may experience delays. Authorities have urged motorists to check alternate routes and allow extra travel time.
DND Flyway to Have Night Restrictions
Traffic movement on the Noida-to-Delhi side of the 9.2-km, eight-lane DND Flyway will remain restricted during night hours only. The restrictions will apply daily from 11 PM to 6 AM until March 18.
The DND Flyway connects Noida directly to Delhi’s Maharani Bagh area and handles nearly 2.5 lakh vehicles every day. Officials chose night hours to minimise disruption during peak office traffic, but regular late-night commuters and airport travellers should stay alert.
During restricted hours, vehicles heading towards Delhi will not be allowed to use the main Flyway stretch under repair.
DND Night Restrictions: Key Traffic Diversions on Noida-Delhi Direct
Traffic police have announced specific diversion plans to manage Delhi-bound traffic smoothly during the resurfacing work.
Vehicles coming from Noida Expressway (Mahamaya Flyover):
- Instead of entering the DND Flyway, vehicles will move towards Dalit Prerna Sthal.
- From there, they will proceed to the Chilla border to enter Delhi.
Vehicles coming from Sector 16 / Rajnigandha Chowk:
- Motorists will not be able to directly access the DND Flyway.
- They must take a U-turn near the toll plaza.
- Vehicles will then move via the Chilla border route to reach Delhi.
Traffic personnel will be deployed to guide vehicles at major junctions.
DND Night Restrictions:Â Key Route Diverted
The primary route affected is the Noida-to-Delhi carriageway of the DND Flyway during night hours.Â
Alternate Route Summary:
- Route 1: Noida Expressway → Dalit Prerna Sthal → Chilla Border → Delhi
- Route 2: Sector 16/Rajnigandha → U-Turn at Toll Plaza → Chilla Border → Delhi
Commuters heading to South Delhi areas or to the Indira Gandhi International Airport should calculate additional buffer time due to expected congestion at the Chilla border.
DND Night Restrictions:Â Why is Maintenance Work Being Done on DND?
The resurfacing work forms part of a major maintenance and rehabilitation project undertaken by the Noida Toll Bridge Company Limited (NTBCL). Authorities began this phase after identifying wear and tear on the carriageway that required a fresh bituminous layer.
Officials explained that earlier delays occurred due to pollution restrictions and winter weather conditions. Proper bituminous work requires specific temperature levels for durability and bonding.
As the company stated, “Bituminous road work requires regular availability and specific ambient temperature thresholds to ensure proper laying, bonding, and long-term performance of the carriageway.”
It further added, “Bitumen availability and transportation remain a key challenge”, and lower winter temperatures affected both the quality of laying and the safe working window.
Around 70 per cent of the resurfacing has already been completed, and the remaining stretch is expected to be finished by March 2026.
DND Night Restrictions:Â Impact on Commuters & Travel Planning
The DND Flyway serves as a crucial corridor between Delhi and Noida, particularly for IT professionals, office-goers, and airport travellers. While authorities scheduled work during night hours to reduce peak disruption, the diversions may still increase travel time.
Commuters travelling to:
- IGI Airport early in the morning
- Railway stations
- South Delhi residential and commercial areas
- Should leave earlier than usual to avoid last-minute stress.
- Traffic congestion is expected near the Chilla border during diversion hours.
DND Night Restrictions:Â What Commuters Should Know Now?
- Night restrictions apply from 11 PM to 6 AM.
- The diversion will remain active until March 18.
- Only the Noida-to-Delhi side is affected during restricted hours.
- Use alternate routes via Dalit Prerna Sthal and Chilla border.
- Plan extra travel time for airport or urgent trips.
- Follow traffic police instructions and on-ground signage.
DND Night Restrictions:Â Final Advice for Commuters
Authorities advise drivers to stay updated through official traffic advisories and GPS navigation apps before starting their journey. If possible, avoid non-essential travel during restricted hours. Those travelling for flights or emergency reasons should keep a time buffer of at least 30–45 minutes.
The resurfacing work aims to improve long-term road safety and driving comfort on one of NCR’s busiest connectors. While the temporary inconvenience may cause short-term delays, officials say the upgraded carriageway will ensure smoother travel in the coming years.
