In the 2026 Jharkhand local body elections, more than 43 lakh voters are eligible to cast their votes, which will decide the fate of nearly 6,000 candidates contesting in urban local bodies. To ensure that the voting process is peaceful and smooth, the Jharkhand State Election Commission (SEC) has set up 4,307 polling booths in the state. Of these, 2,445 have been identified as sensitive polling booths, and 896 have been identified as hyper-sensitive booths, with additional security arrangements. The overall voter turnout in the state is 62 percent. The counting of votes is currently underway for elections to nine municipal corporations, 20 municipal councils, and 19 nagar panchayats in Jharkhand. Among one of the most prominent local bodies where the counting of votes is currently underway is the Ramgarh Municipal Council, which is reserved for Scheduled Tribes (STs) and women.

According to the latest reports, Ranjit Kumar Paswan has won from Ward 13. Rahul alias Sonu has won from Ward 8, while Meena Devi won unopposed before the final polling day. The counting is still in progress, and more results are likely to be declared.

Ramgarh has a total of 97,698 voters, of which 49,238 are male and 48,460 are female. The council has a total of 32 wards.
