Saturday Night Live (SNL), one of the longest-running and most influential late-night shows in the United States, has long been a major platform for artists to debut new music and reach global audiences. Featuring the English folk rock band Mumford & Sons, their Saturday lineup was one of the most anticipated musical appearances of the season.
Mumford & Sons Album: Prizefighter
Prizefighter is Mumford & Sons’ second album in less than a year and their sixth studio release overall. The album dropped on 20 February 2026 via Island Records and the band’s own label, Gentlemen of the Road. Produced by the band alongside Aaron Dessner, much of the material was written even before their previous album Rushmere. In fact, the full record was reportedly recorded in just ten days at Dessner’s New York studio. Frontman Marcus Mumford has described Prizefighter as his favorite project by the band so far.
“It’s like we got to this stage in our careers where we’re comfortable in our skin now, and so we can talk straight,” Mumford said to People Magazine. “And this is the straightest talking record I think we have. And so it’s the closest to the essence of who we are, honestly. And that’s why I love it so much, because it feels like representing that on record can be really hard and really challenging, and you can get most of the way to success. But there’s always edifice, I think, and this one doesn’t feel like it has much of that in it. It’s just f—ing us and our mates, and that’s what our band is.”
Mumford & Sons SNL Performance
Mumford & Sons last appeared on SNL in 2018 to help promote the album Delta. On the latest episode of the late night show, they performed two of their songs. The episode was hosted by Connor Storrie, the 26-year-old Canadian actor best known for his role as Shane Hollander on HBO Max’s Heated Rivalry, making his SNL debut.
The band kicked off their set with “Rubber Band Man,” a collaboration featuring Irish artist Hozier and co-written by Brandi Carlile. They followed it up with “Here,” the opening track from Prizefighter, which features Chris Stapleton. Aaron Dessner and singer-songwriter Sierra Ferrell joined the group on stage for the performance.
Mumford & Sons World Tours
Following their latest television appearance, Mumford & Sons are set to embark on an extensive international tour spanning multiple continents. The band will begin with dates across Australia and New Zealand in April, bringing their new material to audiences in major cities across the region.
In June, the group heads to North America for a wide-ranging run of shows, before continuing on to Europe later in the summer. The North American leg will stretch through October, with the band scheduled to headline Louisville, Kentucky’s Bourbon & Beyond Festival, one of the country’s prominent multi-genre music events.
The SNL performance marked a confident return for Mumford & Sons, showcasing new music and fresh collaborations. With a global tour ahead, the band is set to take this new chapter to fans around the world.
