Is Dubai Airport open right now? This is the question thousands of travellers are asking as flight operations remain suspended across the United Arab Emirates amid escalating tensions in the Middle East. Authorities have confirmed that Dubai’s main airports will stay closed until further notice, with no clear timeline for reopening.

Is Dubai Airport Open or Closed Right Now?

Dubai Airports has confirmed that all flight operations at Dubai International Airport, the world’s busiest airport for international travellers, remain suspended. Operations at Dubai World Central are also on hold.

Officials said they are closely monitoring the situation and will only allow flights to resume once security assessments confirm that regional airspace is safe.

Who are Stranded Amid Dubai Flight Disruptions?

Actor Sonal Chauhan and Indian badminton champion PV Sindhu are among several well-known passengers stranded in Dubai after widespread flight cancellations caused by Middle East airspace disruptions. UK reality television star Vicky Pattison was also caught in the travel chaos while en route to Australia, as airlines issued fresh advisories and travellers remained stuck awaiting further updates.

Dubai Airport Attacked: Why Are Flights Suspended in Dubai and the UAE?

The airport closures follow a sharp escalation in regional conflict, including coordinated United States–Israel strikes on Iranian targets and retaliatory actions across the Gulf. As a precaution, several countries in the region have shut or restricted their airspace, triggering widespread aviation disruption.

With air routes deemed unsafe, UAE aviation authorities ordered a temporary halt to commercial flights to protect passengers, crew, and airport operations.

Dubai Airport Attacked: No Timeline Yet for Dubai Airport Reopening

Dubai Airports reiterated that flights at both DXB and DWC will remain suspended “until further notice.” Authorities have not provided any expected reopening date, stressing that the decision depends entirely on evolving regional security conditions.

Passengers have been clearly advised not to travel to airport terminals and to contact their airlines directly for information on cancellations, rebooking options, and refunds. Officials said reopening will only happen once aviation regulators clear the airspace.

Travellers affected by the suspension should rely only on official airline and airport communication channels. Airlines are managing bookings individually, and passengers are encouraged to avoid unnecessary travel to airports until services officially resume.

The General Civil Aviation Authority said the UAE government has covered expenses for passengers impacted by the closures. Transit travellers received accommodation, meals, and refreshments, while airlines arranged rebookings based on operational plans.

Authorities confirmed that around 20,200 passengers were managed during the disruption through coordinated measures, including rerouting flights between airports, accelerating rescheduling processes, and strengthening on-ground coordination to reduce congestion.

Which Airports Are Closed Across the UAE?

The disruption is not limited to Dubai. Flight operations are also suspended at:

  • Zayed International Airport, where passengers were urged to check with airlines before travelling
  • Sharjah International Airport, which announced a full suspension of flights
  • Authorities across all emirates have issued similar advisories asking travellers to stay away from airport terminals until further notice.

Dubai Airport Attacked: When Will Flights Resume in Dubai?

Aviation officials said services will resume once security assessments allow the safe reopening of regional airspace. The GCAA confirmed it is working closely with airports and airlines to align schedules, activate emergency response plans, and ensure a smooth return to normal operations when conditions stabilise.

Until then, the answer remains unchanged: Dubai Airport is closed, and travellers should prepare for continued delays as the regional situation unfolds.
