Jeffrey Epstein Files: The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee released over nine hours of deposition footage last week, featuring Bill and Hillary Clinton being questioned about their knowledge of Jeffrey Epstein and his associate, Ghislaine Maxwell. The first hours of Bill Clinton’s testimony offered several revealing insights into his interactions with the late convicted sex offender.
Bill Clinton Distances Himself from Epstein File
During the deposition, Bill Clinton repeatedly emphasized that he had no knowledge of Epstein’s sexual crimes and that he severed ties with Epstein years before the financier’s arrest in 2019. Referring to a conversation with Donald Trump, Clinton said, “He told me that he and Epstein had a falling out over a land-deal, property deal.”
Bill Clinton also addressed Trump’s awareness of his travel on Epstein’s private plane, “He somehow knew I had flown in Jeffrey Epstein’s aircraft, and he said, ‘you know, we had some great times together over the years.’ He did know him well.”
A White House spokesperson, Abigail Jackson, stated,“Just as President Trump has said, he’s been totally exonerated on anything relating to Epstein.”
How Bill Clinton Met Jeffrey Epstein?
Bill Clinton explained that he first connected with Epstein around 2001 or 2002, when Larry Summers, then president of Harvard University, called to introduce Epstein, describing him as an information-hungry philanthropist who donated millions to brain research. Summers told Clinton that Epstein could provide his private jet for trips related to charitable work.
Clinton confirmed that he took four or five trips to Asia and Africa and one to Northern Europe on Epstein’s jet, as well as return flights from Florida to New York. He said their relationship ended around 2003, noting, “I thought Mr. Epstein was an interesting man, but he, I didn’t think he was really interested in what I was doing. Over the years with these donors, [I’ve] tried not to overstay my welcome.”
Bill Clinton Denies Sexual Activity on Epstein’s Plane
Addressing photos released from the Epstein files, Clinton clarified an incident where he received a massage on the plane,“There was one time when I was sitting up and I got a back rub, a neck rub. My neck had spasmed, and the woman on the plane offered to help, and I let them help.”
He stressed that he never engaged in sexual activity on Epstein’s plane and never witnessed any wrongdoing. Regarding underage girls on the plane, he said,“To the best of my knowledge, there was not. If there was and I knew it, I would be uncomfortable.”
Hillary Clinton declined to comment on other photos, saying,“I am not going to offer opinions or speculation about anything that I have no context for and was not there.”
Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton Knowledge of Epstein Donations
Both Bill and Hillary Clinton said they were unaware of donations from Epstein. Bill Clinton was surprised to learn of $1,000 donations linked to his 1992 campaign, while Hillary Clinton said she had no recollection of a $20,000 donation to a joint committee supporting her 2000 Senate run. She also denied any knowledge of Epstein’s contributions to the Clinton Global Initiative, “I have no knowledge that Jeffrey Epstein was involved at all.”
Jeffrey Epstein Files: Tense Moments Over Howard Lutnick
During questioning, both Clintons denied discussing Epstein with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. Hillary Clinton suggested that anyone with a prominent role in the Epstein files should be deposed. The discussion became tense when Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) confronted her with an email from Lutnick inviting Epstein to a fundraiser for Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign.
These first few hours of Bill Clinton’s deposition shed light on his relationship with Epstein, his interactions on the private jet, and his lack of knowledge regarding Epstein’s criminal activities, offering rare insight into one of the most closely scrutinized public figures in modern American history.
