In the wake of escalating Middle East tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, social media has been flooded with claims that global football icon Cristiano Ronaldo has fled Saudi Arabia. The rumors gained traction on March 2 and 3 after reports surfaced that a private jet belonging to the Al Nassr captain had departed from Riyadh and landed in Madrid, Spain. Given the recent security alerts following drone strikes near the US Embassy in the Saudi capital, many assumed the 41-year-old superstar had prioritized his family’s safety and made a swift exit.

The Source of the Rumor: The “Ghost Flight”

The speculation was largely fueled by flight-tracking data from platforms like Flightradar24. On Monday night, Ronaldo’s £61 million (USD 81 million) Bombardier Global Express 6500 was indeed tracked flying a seven-hour route from Riyadh to Madrid. This movement coincided with reports of explosions in Riyadh and the postponement of several sporting events in the region, including Al Nassr’s AFC Champions League Two fixture against Al-Wasl. To many, the timing seemed like undeniable proof of a “silent departure.”

The Verdict: Ronaldo Is Still in Riyadh

Despite the aircraft’s movement, the claim that Ronaldo has left the country is false. On Tuesday, March 3, and Wednesday, March 4, Al Nassr released official photos and video footage showing the Portuguese forward at the “House of Nassr” training complex in Riyadh.

Furthermore, renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano explicitly debunked the exit rumors, stating that while the jet may have traveled to Spain—likely for logistical reasons or to transport staff—the player himself remained in Saudi Arabia.

Ronaldo’s Injury Update

While Ronaldo is still in Riyadh, fans won’t be seeing him on the pitch this week. The club confirmed that he is currently recovering from a hamstring injury sustained during Al Nassr’s 3-1 victory over Al-Fayha last weekend. He is currently undergoing a specialized rehabilitation program at the club’s facility to ensure he is fit for the upcoming Saudi Pro League matches.

In conclusion, while the regional conflict has caused significant disruption to international travel and sports schedules, Cristiano Ronaldo remains committed to his contract with Al Nassr and is focused on his injury recovery in the Saudi capital.
