In the wake of Aleem Dar reportedly stepping down as a selector, Pakistan head coach Mike Hesson has found himself under the scanner. With Aleem Dar reportedly citing Hesson’s massive control over selection matters as a reason behind stepping down, a fresh report has emerged where in the head coach’s conduct bothered some players during the T20 World Cup 2026 campaign.
Report claims players raise concerns over Mike Hesson’s planning and man-management
According to a report by Geo News, players expressed their grievance to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over Hesson’s planning, authority and man-management during the 20-team marquee tournament. While the PCB is unlikely to sack the 51-year-old, senior officials have begun scrutinising his conduct before a conversation with the former New Zealand head coach. The report claimed that PCB is likely to warn Hesson against planning in a flawed manner and unilateral decision-making that can be detrimental to the team’s cause.
According to sources, as quoted by The Hindustan Times, Hesson’s growing authority is proving to be a problem for the selection committee and captain Salman Ali Agha. Additionally, the entire dressing room reportedly remains unhappy with the current coach, given he has been taking calls without consulting the skipper. The report claims that it was Hesson’s call to keep out Fakhar Zaman and Khawaja Nafay out of the side until they featured in the fixture against Sri Lanka.
With Pakistan having a disastrous history, especially with foreign coaches, Hesson could also be seen walking out of the door.
