US President Donald Trump has suggested that the next destination of US attention could be Cuba, especially after the ongoing conflict with Iran is resolved. President Trump made this statement while at the White House, where he was addressing a football club, Inter Miami CF. President Trump stated that the US wants to finish the ongoing military operations regarding the conflict with Iran before it turns its attention to Cuba.

“What’s happening with Cuba is amazing. And we think that, we want to finish this one [Iran] first,” President Trump said. “But that will be just a question of time.” This statement has led to a lot of debate globally regarding whether the US could put pressure on Cuba in the future.

Why Are Relations Between the US and Cuba Still So Tense?

The relations between the US and Cuba have been tense over the past few decades, with the two countries having political differences. The Cuban government has faced severe restrictions imposed by the US over the past few years. The US has imposed severe restrictions on the Cuban economy, including trade, finance, and energy supplies to the country.

In the past few years, the US has imposed even more restrictions on the Cuban government. The restrictions have been imposed with the aim of pressurizing the Cuban government to change its political policies. The restrictions imposed by the US have also affected the Cuban economy in the wrong way, with the ordinary citizens suffering the most in the country.

The relations between the US and Cuba are such that the US government’s new move in the Cuban matter could have a significant impact on the stability in the Latin American region.

How Is Marco Rubio Influencing US Policy Toward Cuba?

During the discussion on the issue, he also praised the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, in the context of his contribution to the formation of the US policy on Cuba. Rubio, whose family has ties with Cuba, has always been a proponent of stronger measures against the Cuban government.

Trump said, “Rubio has been doing a fantastic job on a place called Cuba,” which was followed by applause from the audience. In the statement, the administration’s continued efforts on the issue of stronger political pressure on the island were also reflected.

Is Cuba Facing a Growing Economic and Energy Crisis?

The country is currently facing an economic crisis, which has been made worse by the shortage of fuel and other resources. For years, the country has relied on resources from Venezuela, which means that the supply of oil from the South American country is an economic lifeline for the island nation.

Unfortunately, the disruption of the supply chain has led to severe shortages of fuel in the country. As a result, the country’s economic activities have been affected. It is believed that the worsening economic situation could make the country vulnerable to political pressure.

Could Cuba Become the Next Major US Foreign Policy Move?

Trump’s remarks come at a time when the United States is already deeply involved in geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. The conflict involving Iran has significantly raised global security concerns and reshaped international diplomatic priorities.

Some experts believe Trump’s statement suggests that Washington may consider another major foreign policy step once the Iran situation stabilises. The idea of “regime change” in Cuba has been discussed by US political figures in the past, but such a move would likely create strong reactions from countries across Latin America and beyond.

Why Does Trump’s Statement About Cuba Matter Globally?

The country has traditionally been at the forefront of world politics, especially during the Cold War when the relations between the US and the USSR were at their worst. The country’s location close to the US mainland means that any developments there will always spark worldwide interest.

If the situation is exacerbated from the US perspective, it could have significant implications for the region’s diplomatic relations, potentially leading to the emergence of new geopolitical conflicts. For now, the US administration seems preoccupied with the situation in Iran, but the President’s words suggest that the issue of Cuba will soon again become the focus of worldwide political discussions.
