Households and businesses across India will now pay more for cooking gas after oil marketing companies increased the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). The revision came into effect on March 7 and affects both domestic LPG cylinders and commercial cylinders used by restaurants, hotels, and other businesses.
The latest increase comes as global energy markets face volatility due to rising tensions and military conflict in West Asia. Officials in the energy sector say the spike in international fuel prices has forced oil companies to revise LPG rates in India.
With this change, domestic cooking gas cylinders used by regular consumers have become ₹60 more expensive, while commercial LPG cylinders have seen a sharper increase of ₹114.5.
LPG Gas Price Hike: New Domestic Cylinder Price in Major Cities
Following the latest revision, the cost of a 14.2 kg non-subsidised LPG cylinder has increased significantly for urban households.
In Delhi, the price of a domestic LPG cylinder has gone up to ₹913 from the earlier rate of ₹853. This price applies to consumers who do not receive subsidies under government welfare schemes.
The price of LPG varies from state to state because local taxes such as Value Added Tax (VAT) influence the final retail rate. However, most major cities have recorded similar increases following the latest adjustment.
The hike marks the second time in less than a year that domestic LPG prices have increased. The previous revision occurred in April last year when oil companies raised cylinder prices by ₹50.
Energy market analysts say further adjustments may occur if global crude oil prices continue to remain high due to geopolitical tensions.

LPG Gas Price Hike: Commercial LPG Cylinder Price Hike Impacts Restaurants and Hotels
Businesses that depend on LPG for cooking operations will also face higher costs following the latest revision.
The price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has increased by ₹114.5. In Delhi, the cost has now reached ₹1,883 per cylinder.
This increase comes shortly after another price revision earlier in March, when commercial LPG prices rose by ₹28 per cylinder.
Restaurant owners and hotel operators say repeated increases in cooking fuel costs could affect operating expenses and may eventually lead to higher food prices for customers.
Ujjwala Yojana LPG Subsidy: Relief for Over 10 Crore Beneficiaries
Despite the price increase, households that receive LPG connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana will continue to receive financial support.
More than 10 crore beneficiaries under the scheme are eligible for a subsidy of ₹300 on each 14.2 kg LPG cylinder. The subsidy applies to a maximum of 12 refills every year.
The government launched the Ujjwala Yojana in 2016 to provide free LPG connections to poor households and encourage the use of cleaner cooking fuel instead of traditional methods like firewood or coal.
Officials say the subsidy will help reduce the financial burden on economically weaker households even as market prices fluctuate.
