Rockstar Games has taken swift action after fans discovered a loophole that allowed them to make Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) appear on their gaming profiles even though the highly anticipated game has not been released yet. The studio reportedly removed internal identifiers connected to the game from the PlayStation Store database after the discovery spread across gaming communities.

The incident began when data trackers monitoring Sony’s backend systems noticed hidden entries related to GTA 6. These internal entries, known as title IDs, are usually created by developers to prepare a game’s digital store infrastructure before launch.

Within days of the discovery, some users figured out how to exploit these identifiers and make the unreleased title appear in the “recently played” section of their PlayStation and Xbox profiles.

GTA 6 Listing Spotted in PlayStation Store Database

The situation started on March 1 when a backend tracking account noticed two PlayStation Store title IDs associated with GTA 6: PPSA01547_00 and PPSA29660_00.

These codes are technical identifiers used by Sony’s system to manage game listings, editions, regional versions, and digital distribution formats before they become visible on the store.

Their presence indicated that Rockstar Games and its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, had likely begun setting up backend infrastructure for the game’s eventual PlayStation Store page.

Because GTA 6 is one of the most anticipated video game releases in recent years, the discovery quickly went viral among fans who closely track every hint about the title.

GTA 6: Rockstar Removes Identifiers From PlayStation Database

After the workaround gained attention online, Rockstar reportedly moved quickly to stop the exploit. The company removed the GTA 6 title identifiers from Sony’s PlayStation Store database, effectively closing the loophole.

As a result, profiles that previously showed the game in their activity history have now had the listing removed. Some reports also claim that certain accounts involved in the exploit were banned, though Rockstar has not publicly confirmed disciplinary actions.

Experts say the removal does not indicate any development issue or delay for the game. Instead, it appears to be a routine measure to prevent misuse of backend data before official store listings go live.

GTA 6: What PlayStation Title IDs Actually Mean?

Title IDs are unique identifiers assigned to every game within the PlayStation Network system. They help Sony organise different versions of a title, including regional releases, digital editions, and downloadable content.

These codes are typically created months before a game becomes available on the PlayStation Store. Developers use them to prepare store pages, pricing structures, pre-orders, and other infrastructure.

Because of this, the appearance of GTA 6 identifiers in Sony’s database suggested that Rockstar had begun early preparations for the game’s digital listing.

GTA 6: PS4 References Spark Speculation Among Fans

During the brief period when the identifiers were visible, some users claimed they noticed references linking the entries to PlayStation 4 within the database.

This detail sparked speculation online that an older console version of GTA 6 may have been planned at some stage during development. Some players even managed to make the game appear on PS4 account activity pages using the same exploit.

However, Rockstar has only confirmed GTA 6 for current-generation consoles, meaning PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. No official announcement has been made regarding a PS4 version.

GTA 6 Release Date

Rockstar Games has not yet announced an exact release date for Grand Theft Auto VI, but the company has confirmed that the game is scheduled to launch in 2025. The developer revealed the first official trailer in December 2023, confirming that the next entry in the franchise will arrive on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S.

Industry analysts expect Rockstar to release the game sometime in late 2025, possibly during the holiday season when major gaming titles usually launch. However, the company has not confirmed a specific month yet.

Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, has repeatedly indicated in its financial guidance that the launch window remains on track. Fans are therefore closely watching for more announcements, including a second trailer and official gameplay details.

Because GTA 6 is one of the most anticipated games in history, any update related to its release timeline immediately becomes a major talking point in the gaming community.

GTA 6 Price (Expected)

Rockstar Games has also not officially announced the price of GTA 6 yet. However, gaming industry trends suggest that the base version of the game could cost around $69.99 (approximately ₹5,800–₹6,000 in India) for standard editions on current-generation consoles.

Some analysts believe the price could even be slightly higher if Rockstar introduces premium editions with additional content. Special versions could include early access, bonus in-game items, or extra story content. Major AAA games released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles already follow the $70 standard pricing, so GTA 6 is expected to follow a similar model.

If Rockstar launches collector’s or deluxe editions, those versions could cost $90 to $120 or more, depending on the content included. Until Rockstar officially reveals the pre-order details and store listings, the final pricing structure will remain speculation.
