During the post-match presentation, Ishan Kishan revealed that his cousin had passed away in a road accident. He dedicated India’s win to her and also revealed that it was Hardik Pandya, who motivated him to deal with the personal loss and focus on the game. Ishan revealed:
“To be honest, before the game, I lost my cousin sister yesterday in a car accident. I played well for her. I spoke to Hardik bhai, he said to put the team ahead. I dedicate this win to her, and today is Women’s Day, so it makes it all the more special.”
Ishan Kishan’s Father Revealed The Details Of The Unfortunate Incident
Later, Ishan Kishan’s father, Mr. Pranav Kumar Pandey, also opened up about the personal tragedy, and he revealed that he was on his way to Ahmedabad to watch the game; however, he was unable to attend the game because of the unfortunate incident. Ishan’s father revealed that both Ishan’s cousin sister and her husband had passed away. The couple is left with two children, who somehow managed to survive. Ishan Kishan’s father revealed:
“Anarth ho gaya. Hum log bahut badi musibat mei hai. We are all in shock. Ishan wanted to visit us, but he couldn’t because of the final match. He is absolutely distraught.”
Notably, Ishan Kishan was the second-highest run-getter for India in the just-concluded tournament. He amassed 317 runs at an average of 30.255 at a strike rate of 193.27 with three half-centuries to his name.
