Team India, deserved champions of T20 World Cup 2026, comprehensively beat New Zealand in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 8, Sunday. The Men in Blue smashed 255/5 in their allotted 20 overs and later bowled out the Kiwis for 159 in precisely 114 balls, thereby becoming the first team to clinch the T20 World Cup thrice. Nevertheless, it’s also notable that the Men in Blue received a prize money of ₹27.48 crore, an increase of over ₹7 crore from the 2024 edition.

BCCI could announce a special cash prize for Team India:

Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) could also announce a separate cash prize for the victorious Men in Blue. After Rohit Sharma guided Team India to T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies, the Indian cricket board announced a whopping cash prize of ₹125 crore for them.

Given Suryakumar Yadav and co. have created massive pieces of history – becoming the first side to clinch three T20 World Cup titles, the only side to defend their title successfully till date and to win at home. Given such enormous success, the BCCI is bound to announce another windfall on them.

All the players will rest for a few days before joining their respective IPL franchises ahead of the 2026 edition that kicks off on March 28.
