HYDERABAD, India — Dr. Kunal Waghray, consultant interventional pulmonologist at Respire Airway Clinics, has become the first physician from Hyderabad to complete the Fellowship in Advanced Interventional Pulmonology at Thoraxklinik, University of Heidelberg, Germany, one of Europe’s leading centres for airway and lung disease.
Completed in April 2026, the intensive fellowship was conducted under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Felix Herth and Prof. Dr. Konstantina Kontogianni, internationally recognised authorities in interventional pulmonology. Over the course of the programme, Dr. Waghray performed and assisted in more than 240 advanced airway procedures, gaining hands-on expertise in techniques that remain scarce in the region.
The training equips Dr. Kunal Waghray to bring advanced diagnostic and therapeutic airway capabilities directly to patients in Hyderabad. He addresses complex respiratory and lung conditions that have often required referral to centres outside the city or country.
