Bitcoin Price Today (25 August): Bitcoin has moved back into the spotlight after one of its strongest weekly rallies in years, climbing from the low-$60,000 range to nearly $80,000 in a matter of days. The sharp recovery has put the cryptocurrency at a crucial point, with traders now watching whether BTC can decisively break above the $80,000 resistance level.

The rally has brought together several catalysts, including renewed buying through US spot Bitcoin ETFs, a large wave of short-position liquidations and a shift in market sentiment following the US Treasury’s decision to expand its long-term bond buyback programme.

Bitcoin Price Today (25 August)

Bitcoin remains close to its three-month high after climbing sharply from the mid-$60,000 range. The cryptocurrency briefly approached $80,000, but traders booked profits after the latest surge.

The immediate focus remains on whether BTC can sustain momentum above the $77,000-$78,000 support zone and make another attempt at $80,000.

Bitcoin Price Today in USD (25 August)

Bitcoin is trading at approximately $78,000-$79,000 USD on August 25. BTC reached a recent high of around $79,463, putting the cryptocurrency within striking distance of the $80,000 psychological resistance level.

A sustained move above $80,000 could strengthen the bullish outlook, while another rejection may trigger short-term profit-taking.

Bitcoin Price Today in INR (25 August)

At around $78,000-$79,000, Bitcoin is worth approximately ₹75 lakh to ₹76 lakh in Indian currency, depending on the BTC price and the prevailing USD-INR exchange rate.

Indian investors should note that the final INR price can vary slightly between cryptocurrency exchanges because of exchange rates, liquidity and platform-specific pricing.

Bitcoin Price Today in GBP (25 August)

Bitcoin is trading at approximately £58,000-£59,000 on August 25, based on the recent BTC price range and prevailing pound-dollar exchange rates.

The GBP value can move independently of Bitcoin because changes in the pound’s exchange rate against the US dollar also affect the converted price.

Bitcoin Price Today in Euro (25 August)

In euros, Bitcoin is trading at roughly €67,000-€68,000. The conversion reflects BTC’s current dollar price alongside the latest EUR-USD exchange rate.

The cryptocurrency remains close to its recent three-month peak as investors assess whether the rally can extend beyond $80,000.

Bitcoin Price Today in Yen (25 August)

Bitcoin is trading at approximately ¥12.4 million-¥12.6 million in Japanese yen.

The yen-denominated price depends on both Bitcoin’s movement in US dollars and fluctuations in the USD-JPY exchange rate, so the figure can change quickly during the trading session.

Why is Bitcoin Up Today? (25 August)

Several factors have helped Bitcoin stage its sharp recovery.

Strong ETF inflows: US spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted about $1.918 billion over five trading sessions through August 21, marking their strongest weekly inflow of 2026.

Short squeeze: Bitcoin’s rapid move higher forced bearish traders to close losing positions, adding further buying pressure. More than $4.3 billion in short positions were liquidated during the recent rally, according to data cited by Investors’ Business Daily.

US Treasury move: The Treasury’s decision to double long-term bond buyback operations from $2 billion to $4 billion per operation helped push Treasury yields lower and improved sentiment toward risk assets such as Bitcoin.

Regulatory optimism: Investors are also watching developments around US cryptocurrency regulation, including efforts to advance the CLARITY Act and establish clearer rules for digital assets.

Bitcoin Outlook: Can BTC Move Above $80,000?

Bitcoin’s next move could depend on whether fresh spot demand continues after the short squeeze fades.

Analysts have warned that the recent rally needs stronger underlying buying to turn the move into a lasting breakout. If ETF inflows remain strong and Bitcoin holds above its recent support levels, bulls could make another attempt at $80,000.

At the same time, the rapid rise has increased the risk of profit-taking. Markets will also watch upcoming US monetary-policy signals, particularly Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh’s appearance at the Jackson Hole Economic Symposium later this week.

US Treasury Bond Buybacks Give Bitcoin a Boost

One of the biggest catalysts came from Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who announced an expansion of the government’s long-term Treasury buyback programme.

The Treasury said it would increase purchases of longer-dated government bonds to at least $4 billion per operation, double the earlier $2 billion level. The move was intended to improve liquidity in the Treasury market and address pressure on long-term borrowing costs.

The announcement also affected the dollar and other financial assets. Bitcoin and gold benefited as investors shifted toward alternative assets amid concerns over US debt, inflation and currency purchasing power.

However, analysts stress that Treasury buybacks are not the same as quantitative easing or direct money printing.

$4 Billion Bitcoin Short Squeeze Adds Fuel to Rally

Another major factor behind Bitcoin’s rapid climb was the liquidation of bearish positions.

Many traders had bet that Bitcoin would remain stuck in the $60,000-$67,000 range. When BTC suddenly broke higher, short sellers were forced to buy Bitcoin to close losing positions, creating additional upward pressure.

More than $4 billion in bearish crypto positions were liquidated during the rally, according to CoinGlass data cited by Fortune and the Associated Press.

This created a classic short squeeze, where rising prices force more traders to cover their positions, potentially pushing the asset even higher.

Bitcoin ETF Inflows Return

Institutional demand has also strengthened the latest Bitcoin move.

US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded five consecutive days of inflows last week, with total inflows approaching $2 billion, according to Investopedia. Analysts are closely watching these flows because sustained ETF demand could provide the spot buying needed to support Bitcoin at higher levels.

The return of ETF buying has helped improve market sentiment after Bitcoin suffered a sharp decline from its previous highs.

Bitcoin Market Snapshot (25 August)

Metric Latest Trend
Bitcoin price Around $78,000-$79,000
Key resistance $80,000
Recent high Around $79,463
Weekly gain More than 20%
ETF inflows About $1.918 billion over five sessions
Key near-term support Around $77,000-$78,000
Market trend Bullish but volatile

Bitcoin’s next major test remains $80,000. After the rapid rally, traders are watching whether fresh spot demand can replace the buying created by short liquidations. A failure to clear $80,000 could bring another round of profit-taking, while a sustained breakout could strengthen the case for further gains.
