Strait of Hormuz Deal Would Give Iran Control of Inbound Traffic

Events around the Strait of Hormuz continued to be among the major geopolitical themes which were influencing the world financial market. Almost one-fifth of the world’s oil movements is controlled by the Strait of Hormuz, hence any changes in this control would be of significant interest to energy traders. Though there had been expectations of an agreement being reached between the US and Iran, it would make it possible to re-open all the shipping channels completely, there still appear to be quite a number of things unresolved. Energy prices are reacting strongly to each new news coming from the Middle East.
