Dow Jones, Nasdaq, US Stock Market Today Updates: The US stocks rose after balancing gains in the tech sector, declining worries about inflation and increasing energy costs. All the major indices on the Wall Street closed up on hopes of AI-powered chip demand, corporate profits, and a Fed decision not to raise rates aggressively. The DJIA was trading at around 52,656, with a gain of 148 points or 0.28%. S&P 500 was up 29 points to 7,572.62 while the Nasdaq index gained 160 points or 0.61% to close at 26,267.41.

Why Is US Stock Market Up Today?

The market advance was driven by favorable inflation indicators and prices of goods produced rose by less than anticipated, coming in the wake of a soft inflation indicator in consumers. The numbers were seen as an indication that the US central bank may be able to show some flexibility on interest rates. The Dow climbed after solid performance by industrial and consumer firms. The financials were also in favor after reporting good results from some of the largest banks while energy continued to worry with rising crude prices and traded at $80.35 per barrel, up 1.27%.

Why PayPal Shares Jumped 17%

The PayPal stock became one of the largest movers on the Nasdaq following an announcement that indicated a possibility of PayPal being acquired by either Stripe or Advent International. The proposed $53 billion deal would have given the company a value of about $60.50 per share. Shareholders liked the idea of a potential buyout since it could give them a premium in light of declining growth in the payments sector.

The Coca-Cola company has declared a regular quarterly dividend of $0.53 per share after receiving the consent of its board of directors. The dividend is to be paid on October 1st to all shareholders who are listed by September 15th.
