FTSE 100 Today (August 5, 2026):  FTSE 100 advanced 0.4%, extending the previous day’s gains owing to optimism about a potential deal between the US and Iran. US President Donald Trump stated that talks between the US and Iran were going very nicely and that more could be clarified in the next 48 hours. Additionally, Qatar has confirmed that a suggestion concerning the Strait of Hormuz had been made. Solid company results added further support to the index.
