Global Capital Markets Ranking Update: The ongoing US-Israel-Iran war has created a hostile situation for capital markets worldwide. Now there has been a major shift in the rankings index with South Korea’s capital and equities market becoming the world’s sixth biggest equity market and the fifth biggest in Asia. 

The Rankings Shift in Global Capital Markets Ranking

According to recent reports, South Korea recently overtook India to become the fifth largest equity market worldwide. Previously, Taiwan also surged ahead of India in the same index. India is now at seventh place in the updated ranking index.  

Inside South Korea’s Capital Markets

South Korea’s capital markets industry is worth a jaw-dropping approximately $5 trillion in total market capitalization. It contains 3 major stock exchange indexes: the Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI), the Korea Securities Dealers Automated Quotations (KOSDAQ) and the Korea New Exchange (KONEX). According to reports, the industry grew by 87% this year.

Why are the Taiwanese & Korean Stock Markets Booming?

The recent rankings shift raises a major questions: How are the Taiwanese and Korean stock markets performing so well despite the war? It is important to note that both countries have invested heavily in artificial intelligence (AI). And both share a duopoly over the global semiconductor chips, which are in high demand.
