Gold Price Today in India (August 18): Gold prices remained lower in India, as domestic bullion markets tracked movements in international gold and MCX futures. After starting the week on a firmer note, traders watched the US dollar, Federal Reserve rate expectations and geopolitical developments for fresh direction.
For retail buyers, 24K, 22K and 18K gold rates remained close to elevated levels, keeping the precious metal expensive despite recent volatility. City-wise prices also showed small differences because of local market conditions and jeweller pricing.

Gold Price Today in India (August 18): Key Considerations For Buyers
Gold buyers should consider the final jewellery cost rather than relying only on the headline market rate.
- Check purity: Verify the BIS hallmark and HUID before purchasing.
- Compare jewellers: Retail rates can differ between stores.
- Check making charges: These can significantly increase the final bill.
- Account for GST: The displayed gold rate does not include every purchase-related charge.
- Check weight: Ask for a separate breakup of gold and stone weight.
- Compare 22K and 24K: 22K is widely used for jewellery, while 24K is generally preferred for bars and coins.
- Track MCX gold: Domestic futures provide useful clues about short-term price movements.
- Watch global cues: The US dollar, Treasury yields, Fed policy, crude oil and geopolitical developments can all influence gold prices.
