What Is Happening in the US Stock Market Today?

Wall Street is caught between two contradictory forces as first, AI-related stocks continue to be an important factor in the purchase of stocks while second, prices for oil and Middle Eastern instability are holding back investors risk appetite.

Nasdaq was lifted by gains in semiconductor stocks such as Micron Technology while on the other hand, S&P 500 managed to stay near the record highs even after having lost some of them. Unusually good profits have also been posted by S&P 500 companies and almost 90% of companies reported their Q2 earnings by Monday.

Why Is US Stock Market Down or Up Today?

  • Fed uncertainty: Softer economic data has reduced expectations for an immediate rate increase.
