Why Did Lucid Stock Crash?

The fall in prices was triggered by the news of an internet post claiming that Lucid had engaged restructuring firm AlixPartners to evaluate options such as filing for bankruptcy protection or going private. This triggered fear among investors who rushed to sell off their shares, prompting trading suspensions several times because of excessive volatility. Lucid quickly issued a denial, clarifying that there is no special committee set up by the board to evaluate such options.
