Sensex Today: The BSE Sensex was trading at 77,956.15, down marginally by 10.20 points, or 0.01%, as of 12:25 PM IST on August 13, 2026. The index opened at 78,111.91 and climbed to an intraday high of 78,119.39, before volatility during weekly expiry-day trading dragged it to a low of 77,665.89. The Sensex subsequently recovered from the day’s low.

Sensex Today: Why is BSE Sensex Down Today?

Pressure on BSE Sensex persisted on account of both domestic and external factors. The internal factors included heavy sell-offs in Tata Group stocks on the resignation of Tata Sons chairman, N. Chandrasekaran, while the external factors consisted of geopolitics and uncertainty regarding the Strait of Hormuz, along with the rise in crude oil prices.

  • Tech Mahindra Ltd: ₹1,643.05, higher by ₹18.95 (1.17%). The company has a market cap of approximately ₹1,59,263.78 crore, while its 52-week range is ₹1,304.25–₹1,850.00.
  • Eternal Ltd: ₹316.35, gaining ₹3.40 (1.09%). Its market capitalisation is around ₹3,03,069.26 crore, with a 52-week range of ₹212.55–₹368.40.
