Sensex Today:  Sensex in India is trading under pressure on Wednesday, August 12, due to higher crude oil prices, negative global cues, and continuing geopolitical tension. The Sensex is down by 616.15 points or 0.79% at 77,538.10 and the Nifty 50 index fell by 193 points or 0.79% at 24,278.70 at around 12 pm. Apart from that, investors were also keeping an eye on upcoming US consumer price index (CPI) figures that may shed some light on the pace of inflation and Fed’s rate decisions in the future. Moreover, Tata Group stocks witnessed heavy selling pressure as the Tata Sons chairman N. Chandrasekaran had resigned from his post. According to Reuters, Chandrasekaran will serve as the chair until the completion of his tenure in February 2027. TCS emerged as the biggest loser among Tata Group stocks, sliding by around 4.1%-4.2% while Tata Motors tumbled by 2.5%. Other Tata stocks such as Titan and Tata Steel were trading in the red.
