US Stock Market Today: The American stock markets witnessed yet another wave of rallies on August 5 owing to good corporate performances and economic data along with expectations from the international business. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 570.64 points, representing an increase of 1.06% and closing at 54,656.52, whereas the S&P 500 was up by 37.94 points, or 0.49%, to 7,774.21 while the Nasdaq Composite went up by 69.60 points, or 0.26%, to 26,654.59

The S&P 500 managed to extend its streak of record highs by gaining 37.94 points (0.49%), ending the session at 7,774.21 after reaching yet another intraday high of 7,793.56. In a week’s time, the benchmark has advanced more than 6%, making it the best week for the index since April 2025 with positive company earnings, economic statistics and hopes that geopolitical risks would ease, buyers were motivated to hold on to their positions. So far, over 84% of S&P 500 companies beat their quarterly estimates.

The Wall Street market rally continues as investors consider the latest batch of earnings and positive economic data. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 570.64 points (1.06%), the Nasdaq 69.60 points (0.26%) and the S&P 500 climbed by 0.49%. Shares of technology companies, health-care firms and consumer goods companies were among the biggest gainers despite investor concerns about geopolitical issues in the Middle East and potential Federal Reserve policy changes.

The stock of SpaceX fell by almost 9% after it reported that its capital expenditure for the second quarter had increased six-fold to $18.4 billion due to massive investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure while the company was making profits and estimated annual revenue of $1 trillion in 2030, investors were wary of increased expenditures and profitability.

Hormuz Deal Would Give Iran Control of Inbound Traffic

Investors are watching with keen interest the developments in relation to Iran and Oman entering into an agreement in such a way that gives the latter increased control over the shipping coming in through the Strait of Hormuz, because of the importance of the water body as a route for global crude oil supply.

Oil Prices Rise After Houthis Claim to Have Struck Saudi Tanker

The oil price remained highly unstable in the wake of an announcement by Yemen’s Houthi rebels that they attacked a Saudi tanker in the Red Sea. The price for Brent crude oil was hovering around $78.73 per barrel, whereas West Texas Intermediate crude stood at $74.87 per barrel.
