The Sensex rose over 100 points at the opening bell, while the Nifty 50 advanced by 26 points. Meanwhile, oil prices inched higher on Tuesday. However, the upside remained limited as investors shifted their focus from easing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East to concerns over rising global supply and the outlook for future demand.

India Stock Market Update Today (07 July 2026): Nifty, Sensex Opened Higher

Indian benchmark indices opened higher on Tuesday as earlier benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty 50 extended their gains for a fourth straight session on Monday, supported by strong buying in heavyweight banking stocks and softer crude oil prices. The BSE Sensex advanced 521.16 points, or 0.67%, to close at 78,285.07 after touching an intraday high of 78,398.06, up 634.15 points or 0.81%. Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty 50 gained 159.50 points, or 0.66%, to settle at 24,430.35. Over the past four trading sessions, the Sensex has rallied 1,806.40 points (2.36%), while the Nifty 50 has climbed 564.60 points (2.36%), reflecting sustained positive market sentiment. In the previous session on Friday, the Sensex had risen 261.79 points (0.34%) to finish at 77,763.91, while the Nifty 50 added 95.15 points (0.39%) to end at 24,270.85
