Global Markets Drag Indian Stocks Lower
Markets in the Asia Pacific region were lower on Friday. Oil prices are increasing due to the fear of a prolonged conflict in the Middle East, which is affecting the energy supply and the overall growth of the economy. The international benchmark for crude oil, Brent, rose 9.22%, reaching a price of $100.46 a barrel on Thursday, the highest closing price for the commodity since August 2022.
Asian Markets: Markets in the Asian region, including the Kospi stock exchange in South Korea, fell 3%, the Nikkei 225 stock exchange in Japan fell 2%, and the S&P/ASX 200 stock exchange in Australia fell 0.3%.
Overnight, the US stock exchanges were lower due to the rise in crude oil prices, which rose to near $100 a barrel due to the conflict between Iran and the US, affecting the energy supply. The conflict caused the price of crude oil to rise, affecting the overall growth of the economy, which caused investors to move away from the stock market. The S&P 500 fell 1.52%, the Nasdaq Composite fell 1.78%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 1.56%.
