UK Stock Market Today (July 17): The UK’s benchmark FTSE 100 Index recovered from early losses to trade 0.26% higher at 10,600.25 during intraday trading on Friday, July 17, 2026. The index had opened in negative territory as a global technology selloff and escalating Middle East tensions weighed on investor sentiment. London equities initially came under pressure after a sharp decline in international chip stocks. However, gains in Burberry following a strong trading update and encouraging UK employment data helped lift the market. Meanwhile, the British pound weakened slightly, trading at US$1.3465.
