EPFO 3.0 represents the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation's third-generation digital overhaul, designed to modernize retirement savings for over 8 crore members in India. Launched in phases from late 2025, it shifts from EPFO 2.0's foundations to a scalable, user-centric platform amid Labour Code expansions.

Key Features

EPFO 3.0 introduces transformative tools for seamless access:

  • Core Banking System: A centralised platform will allow the members to access services at any EPFO office nationwide, for e.g. traditional banks, which leads to resolving issues without location barriers.
  • New Unified Portal: they have revamped the backend with AI-powered multilingual translations (13+ languages)to help reduce the language barrier and scalable software for 10-year growth.
  • Self-Service Enhancements: Auto claim settlements, digital KYC self-attestation, and personal detail corrections without employer approval.
  • Hybrid Architecture: Cloud-native microservices integrated with core banking for faster payroll contributions and compliance.​

New Withdrawal Limits

Phased rollout expands instant access:

  • UPI Withdrawals: now, you will be able to process transaction Up to ₹25,000 expected by April 2026, reducing claim processing to minutes.
  • ATM Card Withdrawals: now, you can access EPFO-linked ATM cards for immediate PF; limits tied to advance/partial withdrawals (e.g., up to 75% for specific needs), cutting wait times from days to seconds.
  • No Change to Core Rules: Full PF withdrawal still capped at 90% post-retirement; illness/employment loss limits remain 75-90%.​

Implementation timeline

EPFO 2.0 nears completion (pension/claims modules pending).

Full 3.0 rollout: Companies like TCS/Infosys/Wipro will finalize by mid-2026. This covers organized/unorganized workers under the Labour Codes.
