Infosys announced on April 30 that board member Nitin Paranjpe has been promoted to the role of non-executive vice chairman. At the same time, chairman Nandan Nilekani made it clear that there are no plans for any leadership change at the top. The planning & modus operandi reportedly will be same with minor changes.

The appointment took effect immediately after being approved by the board, based on the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee. In his new role, Nitin Paranjpe will work closely with the chairman to help guide the board and support the company’s long-term strategy.

Nilekani said, “We are delighted to have Nitin in this position. His expertise has already made a significant impact on the Board, and we look forward to his continued leadership in this expanded role. I will continue as the Chairman of the Board as long as necessary and there is no plan for a chairman transition.”

Nitin Paranjpe brings extensive global experience to the role. He has earlier served as non-executive chairman of Hindustan Unilever and as non-executive vice chairman of Heineken NV. His appointment is seen as a strategic move at a time when major IT companies are adjusting their business models to focus more on artificial intelligence and evolving technologies.
