SAG Awards or Actor Awards 2026: The 32nd Annual Actor Awards were held on March 1, 2026, at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Unlike many award shows, this ceremony is special because winners are chosen by their fellow actors who are members of SAG-AFTRA, the actors’ union.
Considered a key predictor for the Oscars, the Actor Awards are influential because actors make up the largest voting group in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. This year’s ceremony was streamed live on Netflix and hosted by Kristen Bell, who guided the audience through unforgettable performances, historic wins, and heartfelt tributes.
For more than three decades, the event was widely known as the SAG Awards, named after the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. After moving from cable to Netflix, the organizers decided to rename it the Actor Awards to reach a broader audience. “We really want the show to grow beyond just a domestic audience. I think something simple and straightforward like the Actor Awards is a way to identify who we are very quickly and very easily,” said Jon Brockett, executive producer of the ceremony, in an interview with Vanity Fair.
The awards are voted on by around 118,000 working actors, many of whom also belong to the Academy, making their choices especially significant in predicting Oscar outcomes.
Television awards provided some of the most touching moments. Seth Rogen won Best Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in The Studio. In his acceptance speech, he paid tribute to his late co-star Catherine O’Hara, who received a posthumous Best Actress award in a Comedy Series. Rogen highlighted her kindness and her talent for leading a set with humor and grace.
In drama, Keri Russell earned Best Actress in a Drama Series for The Diplomat, while Michelle Williams was celebrated for her performance in the limited series Dying for Sex. These awards honored experienced actors who had long awaited recognition from their peers.
The spotlight then turned to motion picture categories, with particular attention on Timothée Chalamet, nominated for Marty Supreme. A win would make him the first actor to receive the Lead Male Actor award two years in a row, following his previous win for A Complete Unknown.
Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another led the nominations with seven, making it the frontrunner for Outstanding Cast in a Motion Picture. Other notable films included Sinners, Hamnet, and Frankenstein. During the pre-show, the stunt ensemble award went to Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, a significant win for the action franchise.
