Aamir Khan’s Lagaan Re-Releases In Theatres On June 12 To Celebrate 25th Anniversary, Fans Can’t Keep Calm

With Lagaan about to clock its 25th year, movie lovers will now get the opportunity to revisit the much-beloved movie on the silver screen. As per a recent announcement made by the makers of the movie, the Aamir Khan film is set to make a re-appearance on June 12 and further screenings have been planned for June 13 and 14 as well.

The announcement regarding this thrilling development was made via the Instagram page of Aamir Khan Productions. “The timeless epic that inspired us all! On the 25th anniversary of LAGAAN, the legendary movie is making a comeback. Watch it in cinemas on 12th, 13th & 14th June,” read the post. Along with this, the makers have released the trailer of the film as well.

Fans Express Excitement

The announcement received a positive response from fans who were looking forward to experiencing the movie on the big screen once more. “Best movie…Can’t wait to see it at the movies again,” one fan noted. “Gold,” commented another user.

A Story That Continues to Inspire

The trailer takes you down memory lane and helps you recall all those aspects about the movie which had set Lagaan apart from other Indian films. Starting from its great story line to depicting life in rural India in the pre-Independence period, and showing people living under the reign of the British, Lagaan continues to be a masterpiece of cinema.

Some more elements such as love, unity, determination, and triumph are brought forward in the movie, supported by an iconic soundtrack of exciting background scores and beautiful songs.

The Plot That Made History

The movie takes us back to 1893 where we meet people living in the village of Central India under the reign of the British Empire and struggling against the oppression of high taxes. However, things suddenly change when the local British Indian Army officer challenges the villagers to play a game of cricket. He gives the villagers a chance to be free from paying taxes if they beat him in the game. The villagers accept the challenge, even though they have no experience playing cricket.

Since its release, Lagaan has been appreciated all over India and even gained worldwide acclaim. In many international film festivals, Lagaan won various awards. At the 49th National Film Awards, the movie took home eight awards; among which the Best Popular Film award.
