Anushka Sharma has been away from Bollywood for several years now, but one new advertisement was enough to remind fans just how much the audience still misses seeing her on screen. The actor recently appeared in a new campaign for jewellery brand Heera by GIVA, and within hours of its release, clips from the ad began circulating widely across Instagram and Reddit. While many fans were simply excited to see Anushka back in front of the camera, others couldn’t stop talking about how different she looked in the video.

And, as expected, the internet had plenty to say.

Anushka Sharma’s latest appearance leaves fans surprised

The ad itself featured Anushka in a soft, elegant avatar, styled in minimal makeup and delicate diamond jewellery. The campaign focused on understated luxury, but online conversations quickly shifted toward the actor’s appearance.

“Damn, seeing her on screen after such a long time feels nostalgic,” one fan wrote online.

Another commented, “She still has that star aura. Bollywood genuinely misses her.”

However, not every reaction was focused on nostalgia. Several users pointed out that Anushka looked noticeably different from her earlier public appearances, with some calling her “unrecognisable.” One social media user wrote, “Something feels different about her face.” Another questioned whether the video had been heavily edited, while some speculated about cosmetic procedures without any confirmation.

The conversation soon turned into a larger debate around celebrity appearances, ageing, beauty standards and social media scrutiny.

Fans defend Anushka Sharma amid online speculation

While criticism and speculation flooded comment sections, many fans strongly defended the actor and pushed back against the unnecessary discussion around her looks. One user pointed out that lighting, editing and natural ageing could easily explain the difference people were noticing. Others highlighted how harshly female celebrities are often judged for simply growing older or stepping away from the spotlight.

“As a mother of two, she looks beautiful and healthy,” one fan wrote. “People expect actresses to freeze in time.”

Another social media user added that Anushka has mostly stayed away from public appearances in recent years, which naturally makes any change in her appearance more noticeable to audiences used to seeing her constantly during her Bollywood peak.

Why Anushka Sharma still commands massive attention

Even though Anushka has not appeared in a full-fledged film release in years, her popularity has remained remarkably strong.

The actor made her Bollywood debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi in 2008 and quickly became one of Hindi cinema’s most successful leading stars. Over the next decade, she balanced commercial hits and critically appreciated performances through films like Band Baaja Baaraat, PK, NH10, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Dil Dhadakne Do and Sanju.

Her last theatrical release was Zero in 2018 alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif.

Since then, Anushka has largely shifted focus toward family life with husband Virat Kohli. The couple, often regarded as one of India’s most-followed celebrity pairs, welcomed two children and have mostly maintained a low-profile personal life away from constant Bollywood visibility.

Still, Anushka continues to remain a major talking point online, especially during cricket tournaments where she is regularly spotted cheering for Virat Kohli and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

What’s happening with ‘Chakda Xpress’?

Fans are also still waiting for Anushka’s long-delayed comeback film Chakda Xpress, based on the life of former Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami.

The actor completed shooting for the project back in 2022, and the film was expected to mark her return to acting after a long break. However, despite teaser releases and promotional buzz, the Netflix-backed project is yet to receive an official release date.

For now, one advertisement has once again proved something Bollywood already knows well — even after years away from films, Anushka Sharma still knows how to get the internet talking.
